As you know, I work at ZSL, and have a curious recent tale from Southern Africa one of our scientists told me when she got back from a conference in South Africa, that reminds me of a Serengeti bolognese, oddly
Basically she took the opportunity to go out on a Safari whilst she was there, and the trail she went on had apparently had a recent fatality among the tourists out in the field. The group had apparently been driving along in their four by fours when they came upon a pride of lions, and so stopped the vehicles, as the animals walk passed, among them. As they did, an American lady decided to roll down one of the vehicle windows and attempted to 'stroke' one of passing lionesses! She almost instantly had her arm savaged, mutilated, and more or less ripped off, and died from shock and subsequent blood loss. I can imagine nothing more stupid, daft, or selfish for the other occupants of the car, and so scratch my head.
